The large breeds - also called maxi breeds - are dogs that reach an adult weight of more than
25 kg. Maxi dogs are very powerful, loyal and energetic dogs that you can train well. These dogs
have a number of very specifc qualities that makes them very suited as guard and security
dogs, rescue dogs, search dogs and assistance dogs.
Dogs from large breeds have a life expectancy of around 10 years. The pups are fully grown
after 18 months; it is best to switch to an adult feed after this period.
